Fructose Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average fructose import price amounted to $985 per ton, with a decrease of -5.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 9.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,332 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($2,063 per ton), while the price for China ($887 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (-0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Fructose Price in Hong Kong SAR (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average fructose export price amounted to $1,827 per ton, picking up by 9.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, fructose export price decreased by -1.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 29%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,847 per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($2,729 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($927 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Imports in Hong Kong SAR
In 2022, fructose imports into Hong Kong SAR skyrocketed to 17K tons, with an increase of 23% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible curtailment.
