The average frozen tilapia fillets import price stood at $3,660 per ton in August 2023, surging by 1.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $4,252 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($8,543 per ton), while the price for China stood at $2,987 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+0.5%).

The average frozen tilapia fillets export price stood at $3,875 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 14% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 20% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $4,453 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($4,822 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($2,535 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
