U.S. Frozen Fruit And Nuts Import Price in December 2021

In December 2021, the frozen fruit and nuts price stood at $2,501 per ton (CIF, US), declining by -3.8% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2021 to December 2021, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2021 an increase of 8% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,600 per ton in November 2021, and then declined modestly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($4,780 per ton), while the price for Ecuador ($1,308 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

U.S. Frozen Fruit And Nuts Import Prices by Type

Prices varied noticeably by the product type; the product with the highest price was frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black-, white- or red currants and gooseberries ($3,846 per ton), while the price for frozen strawberries ($2,236 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black-, white- or red currants and gooseberries (+4.6%), while the prices for the other products experienced more modest paces of growth.

U.S. Frozen Fruit And Nuts Imports

In December 2021, approximately 41K tons of frozen fruit and nuts were imported into the United States; flattening at November 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2021 when imports increased by 62% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 75K tons. From April 2021 to December 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, frozen fruit and nuts imports reduced slightly to $101M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2021 when imports increased by 62% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of $154M. From April 2021 to December 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

U.S. Frozen Fruit And Nuts Imports by Type

In December 2021, frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white or red currants, and gooseberries) (25K tons) constituted the largest type of frozen fruit and nuts supplied to the United States, with a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white or red currants, and gooseberries) exceeded the figures recorded for the second-largest type, frozen strawberries (11K tons), twofold.

From January 2021 to December 2021, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of import of frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white or red currants, and gooseberries) was relatively modest. With regard to the other supplied products, the following average monthly rates of growth were recorded: frozen strawberries (-3.6% per month) and frozen raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black-, white- or red currants and gooseberries (+3.5% per month).

In value terms, frozen fruits and nuts (excluding strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, loganberries, black, white or red currants, and gooseberries) ($60M) constituted the largest type of frozen fruit and nuts supplied to the United States, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by frozen strawberries ($25M), with a 25% share of total imports.

U.S. Frozen Fruit And Nuts Imports by Country

Mexico (8.6K tons), Canada (8.1K tons) and Costa Rica (4.1K tons) were the main suppliers of frozen fruit and nuts imports to the United States, with a combined 51% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Peru, Argentina, Chile, Guatemala, Serbia, Greece, Vietnam, Turkey, the Philippines and Ecuador, which together accounted for a further 50%.

From January 2021 to December 2021, the biggest increases were in Greece (with a CAGR of +8.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Mexico ($21M), Canada ($16M) and Serbia ($8.4M) constituted the largest frozen fruit and nuts suppliers to the United States, with a combined 45% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Peru, Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Greece, Vietnam, Turkey, the Philippines and Ecuador, which together accounted for a further 47%.

Greece, with a CAGR of +14.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
