Frozen Fish Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen fish import price stood at $2,627 per ton in 2022, rising by 17% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($25,618 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($1,018 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Price in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022
The average frozen fish export price stood at $822 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 9.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 51% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,818 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($12,083 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bahrain ($421 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (-1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Frozen Fish Imports in Kuwait
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of frozen fish, when their volume decreased by -12% to 14K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 32%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 16K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, frozen fish imports rose slightly to $37M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Frozen Fish Exports in Kuwait
In 2022, shipments abroad of frozen fish was finally on the rise to reach 23 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a dramatic contraction.
In value terms, frozen fish exports soared to $19K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a sharp slump.
