Price for Seafood Meals and Pellets in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average seafood meals and pellets export price amounted to $1,534 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,575 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Japan ($1,541 per ton) and Indonesia ($1,540 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($1,533 per ton) and South Korea ($1,533 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average seafood meals and pellets import price amounted to $1,133 per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 17%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,542 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were India ($1,172 per ton) and South Korea ($1,172 per ton), while the price for Oman ($971 per ton) and Thailand ($1,143 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (-2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Seafood Meals and Pellets in Vietnam
In 2022, exports of flours, meals and pellets of fish or of crustaceans and molluscs from Vietnam dropped to 128K tons, which is down by -11.5% against 2021 figures. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 30%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 144K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, seafood meals and pellets exports contracted to $196M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
