Frozen Cuttlefishes Price in India (FOB) - 2023
The average frozen cuttlefishes export price stood at $4,958 per ton in July 2023, falling by -2.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 14% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $6,211 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,468 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($3,493 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Cuttlefishes Price in India (CIF) - 2023
In May 2023, the average frozen cuttlefishes import price amounted to $4,232 per ton, which is down by -4.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed slight growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 an increase of 5.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $4,431 per ton in April 2023, and then shrank modestly in the following month.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Spain.
From June 2022 to May 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Spain amounted to +1.1% per month.
Frozen Cuttlefishes Exports in India
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of frozen cuttlefishes, when their volume increased by 12% to 4K tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a dramatic slump.
In value terms, frozen cuttlefishes exports skyrocketed to $22M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment.

For the third consecutive year, India recorded decline in overseas purchases of frozen cuttlefishes, which decreased by -20.3% to 145 tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The smallest decline of -3.1% was in 2020.
In value terms, frozen cuttlefishes imports declined notably to $573K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 2.1% against the previous year.
