Frozen Chicken Cut Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average frozen chicken cut import price amounted to $2,036 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 8.1% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,568 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($4,695 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($1,055 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+15.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average frozen chicken cut export price stood at $1,434 per ton in August 2023, falling by -20.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 40% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $2,213 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($2,239 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($745 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of frozen cuts of chicken into Hong Kong SAR fell remarkably to 135K tons, shrinking by -33.1% compared with 2021. In general, imports recorded a sharp downturn.
In value terms, frozen chicken cut imports contracted significantly to $317M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a sharp decrease.
