In September 2023, the average fluorides; of aluminium import price amounted to $1,445 per ton, with an increase of 4.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 5.3% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,968 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,533 per ton), while the price for Mexico totaled $1,410 per ton.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2023, the average fluorides; of aluminium export price amounted to $703 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 36% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,396 per ton. From June 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to -2.6% per month.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of fluorides; of aluminia, when their volume decreased by -20.1% to 24K tons. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 30K tons, and then declined markedly in the following year.

In value terms, fluorides; of aluminium imports declined modestly to $38M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +66.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $38M, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
