Flat Glass Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average flat glass export price amounted to $11 per square meter, increasing by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 32% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($2.7 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Greece ($0.8 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kosovo (+35.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Flat Glass Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average flat glass import price amounted to $11 per square meter, rising by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, flat glass import price increased by +63.3% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1 per square meter), while the price for Poland ($0.5 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Flat Glass Exports in Hungary
In 2022, approx. 8M square meters of flat glass were exported from Hungary; with a decrease of -32% against the year before. In general, exports recorded a deep reduction. The smallest decline of -4.2% was in 2021. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 15M square meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, flat glass exports declined to $92M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $107M, and then fell in the following year.
