In 2022, the average fishing reels import price amounted to $67,918 per ton, with an increase of 23% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 47%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $77,452 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($275,707 per ton), while the price for China ($19,107 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, fishing reels imports skyrocketed to $9.7M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, fishing reels exports skyrocketed to $2.7M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback.
