In 2022, the average pharmaceutical goods import price amounted to $28,703 per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 106% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $81,330 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($843,726 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($4,344 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+26.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pharmaceutical Goods Imports in Iraq
In 2022, the amount of pharmaceutical goodses imported into Iraq rose remarkably to 768 tons, increasing by 9.1% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, pharmaceutical goods imports expanded significantly to $22M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible slump.
