Ferro-Manganese Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average ferro-manganese import price amounted to $1,282 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 21% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,844 per ton. From November 2022 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($1,762 per ton), while the price for India ($976 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (-3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Ferro-Manganese Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average ferro-manganese export price stood at $1,691 per ton in August 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 7.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,235 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Canada.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Canada amounted to -1.4% per month.
Ferro-Manganese Imports in the United States
In 2022, ferro-manganese imports into the United States was estimated at 329K tons, remaining stable against 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 90%.
In value terms, ferro-manganese imports surged to $733M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 102%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
