Ferro-Chromium Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average ferro-chromium export price stood at $2,791 per ton in September 2023, picking up by 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 22% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,989 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,165 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($2,414 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Ferro-Chromium Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
The average ferro-chromium import price stood at $2,254 per ton in September 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 47% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,602 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($6,551 per ton), while the price for India ($2,156 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ferro-Chromium Exports in Turkey
In 2022, approx. 111K tons of ferro-chromium were exported from Turkey; with an increase of 5.6% compared with 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
