Ferro-Chromium Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average ferro-chromium import price amounted to $2,763 per ton, falling by -1.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $3,679 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($3,595 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($1,213 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Ferro-Chromium Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average ferro-chromium export price stood at $4,064 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -18.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 50% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $6,926 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($8,650 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,431 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ferro-Chromium Imports in Germany
Ferro-chromium imports into Germany contracted rapidly to 110K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -25.1% against 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 6.8%.
In value terms, ferro-chromium imports soared to $357M in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted resilient growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
