In July 2023, the average extracts of tea import price amounted to $10,113 per ton, waning by -42.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 191% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $33,716 per ton. From September 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($15,879 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($3,596 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Extracts of Tea Price in Australia (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average extracts of tea export price amounted to $20,225 per ton, reducing by -4.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a tangible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 137% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $23,132 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($20,515 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands totaled $18,531 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Extracts of Tea Imports in Australia
In 2022, the amount of extracts, essences and concentrates of tea or mate imported into Australia shrank to 2K tons, with a decrease of -11.6% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +33.9% against 2020 indices. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +63.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $33M, and then contracted in the following year.
