Dry Vegetable Price in the Philippines (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average dry vegetable import price amounted to $2,628 per ton, declining by -2.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 29% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,754 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($6,300 per ton), while the price for India ($2,121 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dry Vegetable Price in the Philippines (FOB) - 2022

The average dry vegetable export price stood at $5,646 per ton in 2022, rising by 12% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, dry vegetable export price decreased by -31.6% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 38%. The export price peaked at $8,254 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($8,953 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($3,539 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+28.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dry Vegetable Imports in the Philippines

In 2022, supplies from abroad of dry vegetables was finally on the rise to reach 11K tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage.

In value terms, dry vegetable imports soared to $27M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Dry Vegetable Exports in the Philippines

In 2022, approx. 263 tons of dry vegetables were exported from the Philippines; falling by -21.7% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 336 tons, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, dry vegetable exports shrank to $1.5M in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 28%.
