Dry Vegetable Price in New Zealand (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average dry vegetable export price amounted to $7,794 per ton, reducing by -3.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $8,060 per ton in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($14,868 per ton), while the average price for exports to Samoa ($4,804 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average dry vegetable import price amounted to $4,994 per ton, with an increase of 9.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($10,719 per ton), while the price for India ($2,960 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dry Vegetable Exports in New Zealand

In 2022, exports of dry vegetables from New Zealand skyrocketed to 3.1K tons, growing by 43% on 2021 figures. Overall, total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last three-year period.
