Dry Vegetable Price in Luxembourg (CIF) - 2023

The average dry vegetable import price stood at $4,706 per ton in July 2023, which is down by -4.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 104% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $9,702 per ton. From February 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($9,570 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($3,432 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Dry Vegetable Price in Luxembourg (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average dry vegetable export price amounted to $2,540 per ton, increasing by 13% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,295 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($8,924 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($1,630 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Dry Vegetable Imports in Luxembourg

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of dry vegetables decreased by -6.9% to 359 tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 9.3% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 386 tons, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, dry vegetable imports fell slightly to $1.7M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 14% against the previous year.
