Dry Vegetable Price in Bahrain (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average dry vegetable import price amounted to $2,338 per ton, shrinking by -3.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,982 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,193 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($1,305 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+31.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dry Vegetable Price in Bahrain (FOB) - 2022

The average dry vegetable export price stood at $5,290 per ton in 2022, which is down by -10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 124% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $21,514 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($24,878 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($2,048 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kuwait (-0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Dry Vegetable Imports in Bahrain

In 2022, overseas purchases of dry vegetables decreased by -3.7% to 355 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 381 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dry vegetable imports fell to $831K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 34%.

Dry Vegetable Exports in Bahrain

Dry vegetable exports from Bahrain soared to 13 tons in 2022, rising by 18% compared with the previous year. In general, exports, however, saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 92% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 32 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, dry vegetable exports expanded significantly to $69K in 2022. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 27%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $85K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
