Dried Vegetables Price in Panama (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average dried vegetables import price amounted to $4,075 per ton, rising by 23% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 31% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,635 per ton. From October 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,876 per ton), while the price for China ($2,891 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Dried Vegetables Price in Panama (FOB) - 2022

The average dried vegetables export price stood at $4,568 per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 114% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $6,231 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Guatemala.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Costa Rica amounted to -0.4% per year.

Dried Vegetables Imports in Panama

For the fourth year in a row, Panama recorded growth in supplies from abroad of dried vegetables and mixtures of vegetables, which increased by 3.4% to 729 tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, dried vegetables imports rose notably to $2.8M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, exports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 248% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 4 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dried vegetables exports stood at $9.2K in 2022. In general, exports recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 273%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $18K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
