In July 2023, the average dried prune import price amounted to $4,045 per ton, increasing by 15% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 37% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5,134 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Serbia ($6,716 per ton), while the price for Iran ($300 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dried Prune Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023

The average dried prune export price stood at $2,290 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -46.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 an increase of 107% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $5,640 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,323 per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($1,250 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dried Prune Imports in Turkey

In 2022, approx. 6.7K tons of dried prunes were imported into Turkey; picking up by 35% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.3% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, dried prune imports surged to $23M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 101% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
