Dried Onion Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average dried onion export price stood at $2,917 per ton in June 2023, waning by -6.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 7.3% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $3,115 per ton in May 2023, and then contracted in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($5,032 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($2,352 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dried Onion Price in China (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average dried onion import price amounted to $3,686 per ton, shrinking by -6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate mild growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 31% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $3,939 per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for India amounted to +5.1% per year.
