Cyclic Hydrocarbons Price in Japan (FOB) - 2023
The average cyclic hydrocarbons export price stood at $920 per ton in July 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 8.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,069 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the United States ($953 per ton) and China ($932 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($870 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($917 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (-0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Cyclic Hydrocarbons Price in Japan (CIF) - 2022
The average cyclic hydrocarbons import price stood at $1,521 per ton in 2022, picking up by 18% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 20%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,198 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($5,034 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($1,139 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (-0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Cyclic Hydrocarbons Exports in Japan
In 2022, cyclic hydrocarbons exports from Japan fell modestly to 3.8M tons, which is down by -2.2% compared with the year before. In general, exports showed a deep downturn. The smallest decline of -0.9% was in 2021.
In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbons exports reached $3.5B in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 32%.
