Which Country Exports the Most Cyclic Hydrocarbons in the World?

In 2016, approx. 37M tonnes of cyclic hydrocarbon were exported worldwide; going down by -2.8% against the previous year level. Overall, cyclic hydrocarbon exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009, when it surged by 8% against the previous year level. Over the period under review, global cyclic hydrocarbon exports reached its maximum volume of 40M tonnes in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbon exports stood at $34B in 2016. In general, cyclic hydrocarbon exports continue to indicate a temperate deduction. Over the period under review, global cyclic hydrocarbon exports attained its maximum level of $60B in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Cyclic Hydrocarbon Exports By Country

In 2016, South Korea (11M tonnes), distantly followed by Japan (6.2M tonnes), the Netherlands (4M tonnes), Singapore (2.7M tonnes), Germany (1.8M tonnes), and Saudi Arabia (1.8M tonnes) represented the main exporters of cyclic hydrocarbon, together making up 73% of total exports. Thailand (1.4M tonnes), Belgium (1.3M tonnes), the UK (1M tonnes), Kuwait (818K tonnes), Oman (687K tonnes), and Canada (665K tonnes) held the mild share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of cyclic hydrocarbon exports, among the main exporting countries, was attained by Kuwait (+318.2% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest cyclic hydrocarbon markets worldwide were South Korea ($7.9B), Japan ($4.5B) and the Netherlands ($3.2B), together comprising 46% of global exports.Singapore, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Thailand, the UK, Canada, Kuwait and Oman lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

Kuwait (+228.5% per year) recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the cyclic hydrocarbon exports, among the main exporting countries, over the last 9 years, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cyclic Hydrocarbon Export Prices By Country

The average cyclic hydrocarbon export price stood at $914 per tonne in 2016, waning by -6.2% against the previous year. Overall, cyclic hydrocarbon export price continues to indicate a temperate deduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when export increased by 27% from the previous year level. Global cyclic hydrocarbon export peaked of $1,607 per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

Export prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest export prices was Saudi Arabia ($882 per tonne), while the UK ($568 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of cyclic hydrocarbon export prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (-1.9% per year), while the other global leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.
