Cutting Blade Price in Colombia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average cutting blade import price amounted to $13,016 per ton, which is down by -10.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $25,556 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($77,077 per ton), while the price for China ($5,226 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cutting Blade Price in Colombia (FOB) - 2022

The average cutting blade export price stood at $4,799 per ton in February 2022, growing by 14% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2021 an increase of 16% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $5,039 per ton in October 2021; however, from November 2021 to February 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was Peru ($6,778 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($3,388 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cuba (+21.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cutting Blade Imports in Colombia

In 2022, overseas purchases of knives and cutting blades (for machines or for mechanical appliances) decreased by -8.4% to 897 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 105%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 980 tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, cutting blade imports fell sharply to $12M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 58% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $14M, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +35.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 30%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 259 tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, cutting blade exports shrank to $4.2M in 2022.
