Curtains Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average curtains import price stood at $3.4 per square meter in August 2023, falling by -7.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 9.9% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3.8 per square meter in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($12.6 per square meter), while the price for Pakistan ($2.1 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Curtains Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average curtains export price stood at $5.9 per square meter in August 2023, with an increase of 6.5% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6.3 per square meter in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($10.7 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($3.9 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Curtains Imports in Germany
In 2022, approx. 140M square meters of curtains and interior blinds were imported into Germany; waning by -12% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 7.3% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 159M square meters, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, curtains imports dropped to $495M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 4.7% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $521M, and then declined in the following year.

Curtains Exports in Germany
In 2022, approx. 56M square meters of curtains and interior blinds were exported from Germany; which is down by -14.5% on the previous year. In general, exports showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 7.4%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 65M square meters, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, curtains exports declined to $299M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $339M, and then shrank in the following year.
