Cosmetics Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022

The average cosmetics import price stood at $21,456 per ton in 2022, declining by -8.2% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cosmetics import price increased by +59.8% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 16%. The import price peaked at $23,374 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($45,457 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($5,339 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cosmetics Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average cosmetics export price amounted to $10,156 per ton, shrinking by -22.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $25,047 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($106,302 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($3,248 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+24.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cosmetics Imports in Vietnam

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of cosmetics, when their volume decreased by -5.6% to 29K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 24%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 31K tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, cosmetics imports dropped to $623M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $719M, and then dropped in the following year.

Cosmetics Exports in Vietnam

In 2022, the amount of cosmetics exported from Vietnam soared to 8.1K tons, picking up by 50% on 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cosmetics exports skyrocketed to $83M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt decrease.
