Corrugated Paper Box Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average corrugated paper box export price stood at $1,416 per ton in July 2023, declining by -2.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 7% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,655 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Israel ($2,083 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($1,039 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Corrugated Paper Box Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
The average corrugated paper box import price stood at $2,542 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -6.4% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, corrugated paper box import price increased by +17.9% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,717 per ton, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($7,564 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,224 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Corrugated Paper Box Exports in Turkey
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of cartons, boxes and cases of corrugated paper or paperboard, when their volume decreased by -16.6% to 219K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 28%.
In value terms, corrugated paper box exports shrank to $353M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +51.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $375M, and then shrank in the following year.

Corrugated Paper Box Imports in Turkey
For the fourth consecutive year, Turkey recorded growth in overseas purchases of cartons, boxes and cases of corrugated paper or paperboard, which increased by 53% to 7.8K tons in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed significant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, corrugated paper box imports surged to $20M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
