Copper; Master Alloys Price in India (FOB) - 2023

The average copper; master alloys export price stood at $8,520 per ton in July 2023, declining by -15.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $10,346 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Belgium ($10,625 per ton) and South Africa ($8,882 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($7,949 per ton) and Tanzania ($8,303 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Zambia (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average copper; master alloys import price stood at $11,000 per ton in July 2023, falling by -51.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 49% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $22,537 per ton, and then reduced markedly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($19,566 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($9,031 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (-1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. 633 tons of copper; master alloyses were exported from India; increasing by 16% on the year before. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 20%.

In value terms, copper; master alloys exports surged to $5.8M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a slight increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last three-year period.
