Commercial Printing Price in Sweden (CIF) - 2023

The average commercial printing import price stood at $8,057 per ton in June 2023, increasing by 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $8,415 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($30,062 per ton), while the price for Romania ($3,366 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In June 2023, the average commercial printing export price amounted to $10,695 per ton, flattening at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 34% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $11,106 per ton. From March 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($18,557 per ton), while the average price for exports to Norway ($6,464 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Commercial Printing Imports in Sweden

For the third consecutive year, Sweden recorded decline in purchases abroad of commercial printing (except screen and books), which decreased by -13% to 56K tons in 2022. In general, imports showed a deep setback. The smallest decline of -1.2% was in 2021.

In value terms, commercial printing imports declined modestly to $404M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 5.6% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $409M, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

Commercial Printing Exports in Sweden

In 2022, shipments abroad of commercial printing (except screen and books) increased by 1.6% to 31K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a perceptible contraction.

In value terms, commercial printing exports shrank to $285M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 15%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $310M, and then dropped in the following year.
