Commercial Printing Price in Portugal (CIF) - 2023

The average commercial printing import price stood at $9,263 per ton in June 2023, dropping by -5.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 17% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $10,518 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($16,978 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($2,332 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average commercial printing export price stood at $10,848 per ton in June 2023, with an increase of 22% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 32% month-to-month. The export price peaked in June 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Mozambique ($16,930 per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($4,114 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, commercial printing imports skyrocketed to $276M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
