Commercial Printing Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022

The average commercial printing import price stood at $8,229 per ton in March 2022, increasing by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2021 an increase of 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $9,226 per ton in April 2021; however, from May 2021 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($21,399 per ton), while the price for Lebanon ($2,390 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average commercial printing export price stood at $2,145 per ton in 2022, reducing by -18.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 31% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,645 per ton, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($6,990 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($1,397 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Commercial Printing Imports in Indonesia

In 2022, commercial printing imports into Indonesia skyrocketed to 57K tons, increasing by 16% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, commercial printing imports skyrocketed to $372M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Commercial Printing Exports in Indonesia

For the third year in a row, Indonesia recorded decline in overseas shipments of commercial printing (except screen and books), which decreased by -1.5% to 42K tons in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a deep reduction.

In value terms, commercial printing exports contracted significantly to $90M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $112M, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
