Coconut Oil Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
The average coconut oil import price stood at $1,270 per ton in June 2023, with an increase of 6.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 65% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,073 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,589 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,167 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Coconut Oil Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2022
The average coconut oil export price stood at $2,063 per ton in 2022, rising by 17% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, coconut oil export price increased by +71.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the UK ($2,378 per ton) and Russia ($2,157 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($1,845 per ton) and Sweden ($1,990 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Coconut Oil Imports in the Netherlands
In 2022, imports of coconut (copra) oil into the Netherlands skyrocketed to 417K tons, growing by 18% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, coconut oil imports soared to $750M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant increase.
