Cocoa Powder Price in Jordan (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average cocoa powder import price amounted to $3,120 per ton, with an increase of 9.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,825 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Ghana ($3,109 per ton) and Malaysia ($3,109 per ton), while the price for the UK ($3,109 per ton) and Germany ($3,109 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Cocoa Powder Price in Jordan (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average cocoa powder export price amounted to $3,001 per ton, with an increase of 7.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 180% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,512 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Oman ($3,001 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($3,001 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($3,001 per ton) and Kuwait ($3,001 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cocoa Powder Imports in Jordan

In 2022, supplies from abroad of cocoa powder (not sweetened) decreased by -12.5% to 2.3K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.8K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cocoa powder imports shrank modestly to $7.3M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 11%.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of cocoa powder (not sweetened) decreased by -18.3% to 167 tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 64% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 204 tons, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, cocoa powder exports fell to $500K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 66%.
