Cocoa Powder Price in Angola (CIF) - 2022

The average cocoa powder import price stood at $2,947 per ton in 2022, surging by 9.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,220 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($3,633 per ton), while the price for China ($948 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average cocoa powder export price stood at $1,755 per ton in 2021, reducing by -28.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 13%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,466 per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

From 2015 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cuba (0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cocoa Powder Imports in Angola

In 2022, cocoa powder imports into Angola contracted dramatically to 174 tons, waning by -41.1% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 214% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 295 tons, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, cocoa powder imports contracted dramatically to $513K in 2022. Overall, imports saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 249%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $798K, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
