Cocoa Butter Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average cocoa butter export price amounted to $6,130 per ton, growing by 6.6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 8.6% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $6,178 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to October 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Chile ($6,408 per ton), while the average price for exports to Argentina ($5,808 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Butter Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2022
The average cocoa butter import price stood at $4,855 per ton in 2022, declining by -9.6% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cocoa butter import price decreased by -29.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $6,846 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($15,715 per ton), while the price for Peru ($4,147 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ecuador (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Butter Exports in Brazil
In 2022, shipments abroad of cocoa butter decreased by -27.7% to 18K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports recorded a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 15%.
In value terms, cocoa butter exports fell remarkably to $102M in 2022. In general, exports recorded a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 11%.
