Cocoa Bean Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average cocoa bean import price stood at $3,181 per ton in July 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 7.7% m-o-m. The import price peaked in July 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Cameroon ($3,332 per ton) and Ghana ($3,315 per ton), while the price for Nigeria ($2,687 per ton) and Belgium ($3,007 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Bean Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average cocoa bean export price amounted to $3,683 per ton, rising by 2.9% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 22% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,782 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Austria ($7,495 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($1,402 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Bean Imports in Germany
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of cocoa beans, when their volume decreased by -32.9% to 300K tons. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year.
In value terms, cocoa bean imports declined dramatically to $746M in 2022. In general, imports saw a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 42%.
