Chocolate and Confectionery Price in Iran (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average chocolate and confectionery import price amounted to $3,168 per ton, declining by -12.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4,395 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($4,893 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($2,055 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Chocolate and Confectionery Price in Iran (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average chocolate and confectionery export price amounted to $2,283 per ton, declining by -6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 3.4%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $5,458 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($3,011 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($1,394 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (-3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Chocolate and Confectionery Imports in Iran

In 2022, chocolate and confectionery imports into Iran surged to 30K tons, picking up by 36% against 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, chocolate and confectionery imports surged to $95M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, shipments abroad of chocolate and confectionery decreased by -84.9% to 2.5K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 8.1% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 17K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chocolate and confectionery exports fell notably to $5.6M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a precipitous descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 5.1% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $54M.
