The average chipped non-coniferous wood import price stood at $31 per cubic meter in 2022, rising by 8.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 124% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $97 per cubic meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($169 per cubic meter), while the price for the United States totaled $13 per cubic meter.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (-13.2%).
Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Imports in Venezuela
In 2022, purchases abroad of non-coniferous wood in chips or particles decreased by -36.9% to 2.1K cubic meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 283%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 3.3K cubic meters, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, chipped non-coniferous wood imports shrank sharply to $66K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 168%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $96K, and then dropped notably in the following year.
