Price for Wood Chips, Parts, Residues, Pellets and Other Agglomerates in Lithuania (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average export price for wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates amounted to $166 per cubic meter, increasing by 81% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates increased by +108.2% against 2020 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($0.5 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Poland ($0.1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates stood at $96.8 per cubic meter in January 2023, with a decrease of -14.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price faced a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 3% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $158 per cubic meter. From December 2022 to January 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Latvia.
From September 2022 to January 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Latvia amounted to -7.1% per month.
Exports of Wood Chips, Parts, Residues, Pellets and Other Agglomerates in Lithuania
In 2022, shipments abroad of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates decreased by -15% to 1.3M cubic meters, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.7M cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates skyrocketed to $212M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +56.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

For the third consecutive year, Lithuania recorded decline in supplies from abroad of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates, which decreased by -74.2% to 894K cubic meters in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a precipitous setback. The smallest decline of -7.8% was in 2021. Imports peaked at 4.6M cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, imports of wood chips, parts, residues, pellets and other agglomerates shrank to $66M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 1.3%. Imports peaked at $82M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
