Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Price in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average chipped non-coniferous wood export price amounted to $130 per cubic meter, picking up by 4.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 123%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $213 per cubic meter. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($223 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($2 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+42.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Price in Sri Lanka (CIF) - 2022
The average chipped non-coniferous wood import price stood at $10 per cubic meter in 2022, increasing by 8.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a dramatic descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 92%. The import price peaked at $835 per cubic meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($22 per cubic meter), while the price for China totaled $9 per cubic meter.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Exports in Sri Lanka
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of non-coniferous wood in chips or particles decreased by -26.3% to 42 cubic meters in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 217% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 57 cubic meters, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, chipped non-coniferous wood exports contracted significantly to $5.4K in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 209%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $7.1K in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Imports in Sri Lanka
For the third consecutive year, Sri Lanka recorded decline in overseas purchases of non-coniferous wood in chips or particles, which decreased by -50% to 3 cubic meters in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a significant decrease. The smallest decline of -25% was in 2020. Imports peaked at 12 cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, chipped non-coniferous wood imports reduced sharply to $31 in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a sharp shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $4.5K in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
