Cherry Price in Poland (CIF) - 2022
The average cherry import price stood at $2,702 per ton in 2022, dropping by -9.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 39%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3,937 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($4,492 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,946 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cherry Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average cherry export price amounted to $6,894 per ton, growing by 86% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 591% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $20,044 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the UK amounted to +12.8% per month.
Cherry Imports in Poland
In 2022, purchases abroad of cherries decreased by -15.1% to 4.7K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 100% against the previous year.
In value terms, cherry imports reduced dramatically to $13M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 62% against the previous year.
