Cherry Price in Italy (FOB) - 2023
The average cherry export price stood at $4,105 per ton in August 2023, shrinking by -28.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 122% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $7,421 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($7,705 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($1,248 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cherry Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
In October 2023, the average cherry import price amounted to $14,847 per ton, rising by 434% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price posted a resilient expansion. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for South Africa.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Romania amounted to +3.7% per month.
Cherry Exports in Italy
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of cherries, when their volume decreased by -20% to 7.6K tons.
