Cheese Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022

In March 2022, the average cheese import price amounted to $4,853 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2022 an increase of 8.2% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in March 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($8,178 per ton), while the price for the United States ($4,386 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cheese Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022

In March 2022, the average cheese export price amounted to $3,844 per ton, rising by 1.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 when the average export price increased by 15% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,086 per ton. From February 2022 to March 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In March 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Brunei Darussalam ($4,744 per ton) and Singapore ($4,697 per ton), while the average price for exports to Timor-Leste ($3,454 per ton) and the Philippines ($3,788 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cheese Imports in Indonesia

In 2022, approx. 31K tons of cheese were imported into Indonesia; with an increase of 1.9% against 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cheese imports surged to $164M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Cheese exports from Indonesia surged to 2.9K tons in 2022, picking up by 29% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 71%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
