Cheese and Curd Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
In January 2022, the average cheese and curd import price amounted to $4,470 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period from January 2021 to January 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2021 an increase of 26% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,501 per ton in December 2021, and then fell modestly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($5,185 per ton), while the price for Serbia ($3,302 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cheese and Curd Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In January 2022, the average cheese and curd export price amounted to $3,893 per ton, reducing by -2.7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2021 an increase of 6.6% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4,000 per ton in December 2021, and then fell slightly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($4,703 per ton), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($2,290 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cheese and Curd Imports in Russia
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of cheese and curd decreased by -1.9% to 317K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year.
In value terms, cheese and curd imports dropped slightly to $1.3B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 6.3% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $1.3B, and then fell slightly in the following year.

Cheese and Curd Exports in Russia
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of cheese and curd decreased by -7.2% to 33K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 35K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, cheese and curd exports reduced to $111M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +32.2% against 2019 indices.
