The average chalk and dolomite import price stood at $89 per ton in 2022, picking up by 16% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $102 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,484 per ton), while the price for Croatia ($49 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
