Ceramic Tile Price in Tanzania (FOB) - 2022

The average ceramic tile export price stood at $4.6 per square meter in December 2021, picking up by 31% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2021 to December 2021, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Burundi ($9.8 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($3.5 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Africa (+25.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ceramic Tile Price in Tanzania (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average ceramic tile import price amounted to $5.5 per square meter, falling by -2% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 53%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $8.9 per square meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($14 per square meter), while the price for Zambia ($0.2 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ceramic Tile Exports in Tanzania

For the fourth consecutive year, Tanzania recorded growth in shipments abroad of ceramic tiles, which increased by 19% to 1.9M square meters in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 123%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, ceramic tile exports soared to $12M in 2022. In general, exports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 115% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
