Caramel Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023
The average caramel import price stood at $1,240 per ton in September 2023, growing by 3.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 48% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,157 per ton. From April 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($6,729 per ton), while the price for Latvia ($698 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+16.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Caramel Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023
The average caramel export price stood at $2,450 per ton in September 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. In general, export price indicated a perceptible expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, caramel export price decreased by -19.4% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 60% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4,014 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($11,206 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($1,260 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Caramel Imports in Lithuania
In 2022, imports of caramel into Lithuania fell modestly to 3.9K tons, reducing by -1.9% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years.
