Canned Vegetable Price in Singapore (CIF) - 2022

The average canned vegetable import price stood at $5,380 per ton in September 2022, rising by 34% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated pronounced growth from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, canned vegetable import price increased by +105.5% against May 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 an increase of 35% month-to-month. The import price peaked in September 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($11,032 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,599 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Canned Vegetable Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022

In September 2022, the average canned vegetable export price amounted to $8,554 per ton, shrinking by -10.5% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated notable growth from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, canned vegetable export price increased by +42.8% against May 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 50% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9,561 per ton, and then contracted in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($23,359 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mongolia ($1,790 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Canned Vegetable Imports in Singapore

In 2022, the amount of canned vegetables imported into Singapore skyrocketed to 34K tons, jumping by 40% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -18.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 72%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 41K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, canned vegetable imports surged to $94M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +10.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 44%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $101M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
