Camping Equipment Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023

In October 2023, the average camping equipment import price amounted to $3,825 per ton, dropping by -4.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 6.4% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5,828 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($52,192 per ton), while the price for China ($2,181 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+14.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Camping Equipment Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023

In October 2023, the average camping equipment export price amounted to $24,830 per ton, rising by 109% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated temperate growth from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.4% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, camping equipment export price increased by +108.6% against September 2023 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($62,507 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($5,179 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Camping Equipment Imports in the United States

In 2022, purchases abroad of camping goods decreased by -0.8% to 224K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +65.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 226K tons, leveling off in the following year.

In value terms, camping equipment imports amounted to $1.2B in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 48%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 13K tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, camping equipment exports contracted modestly to $166M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +10.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 30%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $168M, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
